The darkness was thick and it seemed to choke Serendipity, catching in her lungs. She side stepped, tossing her head and trying to rid herself of the thick air that was full of moisture. A storm. She knew it was true, but the reality of it made her nervous, made her hurt. She snorted and side stepped again, prancing on the spot as she tried to gain control of herself once more. Her eyes were rimmed in white, making her dark brown eyes look small. She snorted and lowered her head, trying to curl herself out of the thick air. But it followed her, choking her until she could take no more. She flared her nostrils, the red much lighter then the bloody colored coat she wore. Then the thunder rolled, piercing her twin towers with a drumming sound, the flash of lightening pierced the sky. She let out a high pitched scream of pure terror and bolted, her limbs eating away the ground as if her very life depended on it. The terror raged inside of her and flashes of the dead corpses flashed in her mind's eyes, bringing the emotions of that night even harder down on her. ~ With a jerk she awoke, eyes still rimmed in white, and her breath catching in her throat. But the night was still cool, and the air was thin in her lungs. No water. No storm, and the emotions were gone. She felt nothing but peace, and joy, that she was once more out of the dream. How often it plagued her and haunted her sleep, but the only thought of the event that bothered her now was "Is he alive?" At this a small smile twisted her lips, sad and thoughtful, and she closed her eyes. When they openned, no white rimmed them any longer and the fear was gone. She stood up swiftly and shook herself, letting all dirt and dust be gone. Serendipity sighed and decided it was best if she traveled a bit more, maybe someone would find her or she find them. She hated being alone, the feeling kept her skin crawling and her heart pounding, no emotions were there to keep her from finding what lay inside. And true fear kept a wall from searching the depths of herself. ~ She walked for ages, letting herself relax and the night air clean calm her. Before even a couple hours passed, she wore and serene mask that hid what had once been a couple hours ago. This was Serendipity as you would always see her, though the mask would twist when she mimiced the feel of emotions around her. Addicted to it, she was, for it kept her from feeling the horror, fear, joy, and many other things that frightened her. How could she feel like that? It sickened her, and so her mask became her haven. The first morning rays crept over the horizon, placing light on the blood stained pelt that she wore. Thirst now clawed a the back of her throat and she sighed when the sound of a stream placed itself near her. She lowered her head and drank the pure water, letting her feed the thirst that threatened to hurt her. And it was sweet, like fresh grass in the spring time. Oh, what a drink of pure water. |
